The Unix eMule client is called aMule and supports the same features as eMule such as support for the Kademlia (KAD) serverless network. mlDonkey, was the first open-source client and the only one to support Overnet.
eDonkey2000 was the original program to use the network protocol (and the originator of the ed2k:// link standard) and was available for multiple platforms (Windows, Mac OS X and Linux), but did at times include annoying advertising, bundled spyware and backdoors that eventually caused it to uninstall when the company was shut down by the media industry mafia. It used an additional proprietary decentralized protocol called Overnet.
